MayRankin takes Wilkies Run
honours
Another impressive effort from Foyle Valleys
Scott Rankin took him to victory in last Thursdays Wilkies
Run. Staged in very humid conditions the annual Foyle Valley
promotion attracted a record 131 finishers with Rankin following
up his Lisnagelvin 5K win with an unchallanged 26m33sec gun
to tape success.He was clear of City of Derry,s Paddy Moore
on 26m 53 sec and James Brown of Innishowen Ac who posted
27m 4sec for third.
North Belfast,s Cathy McCourt had a tougher task,her 30m 9sec
clocking just getting her home in front of Innishowens Helena
Crossan on 30 15sec with Lisnagelvin womens winner,Gemma Turley
of Abbey Ac third on 32m 31sec.
Pius McIntyre ran 27m 35sec for fourth,Gerry Duddy clocked28m
5sec in fifth and was the leading M45,Ryan Snodgrass on 28m
40sec completed the top six.Springwell,s Gerry O Doherty was
the top M50,Petr Lilburn with a quick 29m55sec was the first
M55 and Donegal man Jimmy Shields the top M60 in an impressive
32m 34 secs.
Meanwhile on a testing Bambridge 10K course last Wednesday
night,won in 33m 26sec by North Belfasts Connor Flanaghan,Diarmuid
Grant finished runner up in 34m 3sec and Richard Johnston
sixth with 35m 16sec.
