10th May 2011 Furey Insurances 5K Series.....Lisnagelvin Leisure Centre Hosts Race 2 on Wednesday Night..11th May

Race 2 in the City of Derry Spartans organised Furey Insurances 5K Series,is set to attract another bumper entry this Wednesday 11th May on the three lap Lisnagelvin circuit in Derry,s Waterside. Start time is 7 30pm and entries will be taken from 6pm at race HQ in the Lisnagelvin Leisure Centre.

Pre race entries can be emailed to fudgelarge@gmail.com ----simply state your name/ age on race day and club! Your race pack can be picked up on the night when payment is made. The entry fee is £8 or E10.

On offer is the standard £400 plus prize fund covering all the usual age categories from U20 to 70+ and post race refreshments will be available back at the Leisure Centre pending the Awards Presentations.

Paddy Hamilton and Teresa McGloin set new course records of 14m 39s and 17m 06s at race1 on the Bay Road circuit on April 20th last,times unlikely to be matched this week, but the flat three lapper benefits from excellent spectator access and the potential for quick times is definitely there. The 180 Bay Road entry included runners of all abilities,17 different clubs were represented and there were nearly 60 unattached participants,underlining the continuing appeal of the running boom and the value of regular race opportunities in such as the Furey Insurances Series.

Next up is the Buncrana 5K on Weds 25th May...usually the biggest in the Series and also considered to be the best course for PB,s.
