City of Derry Athletes in the Laim Ball Triathlon
Anne Paul continued her return to form taking
a great win in the ladies race. Full report and results on
the NW triathlon club website here.
Just a quick note to inform you of the
club's participation at the Liam Ball Triathlon.
John Lenehan back from his travels in
Oz and Asia produced a stormer to finish in 7th overall and
was 2nd in the male 25-29 category. He's in full-time training
for an Ironman in July, but expressed an interest in turning
out in one of the remaining Furey Insurance's 5k races this
summer and is already looking forward to next year's cross-country
season!
Next home for the club was Gary O'Donnell in 12th overall.
A strong swim and run put Gary less than 30secs behind the
1st local Jarleth Fearon and I'm sure he'll be back next year
to have another crack at that coveted title!
Cathal Logue making his debut over the sprint triathlon distance
finished 19th overall. Out of the water with Gary, he suffered
badly on the bike, but still managed to bring it home on the
run in a respectable time.
Another man looking at the longer races later in the summer,
Dermot Connolly was next home in 53rd overall. A strong cycle
and an excellent run (11th fastest) brought him home in 1.20.13.
Karen Cutliffe making her debut in triathlon finished in 126th
in a time of 1.31.16 and was closely followed by Roisin Lynch
in a time of 1.31.37.
On behalf of the club participants I would like to extend
our thanks to the amazing support we received out on the course.
I myself heard at least 5 or 6 familiar voices from the club
and of course we had our very own Gerry Lynch doing the commentary!
Looking foward to seeing a few more Spartans taking part in
a few triathlons in the near future!
