4th Aug 2010Jog in the Bog next Wednesday

The annual Jog in the Bog 5K will be staged out of the Gasyard Centre on Wednesday 11th August next,starting at 7 30pm with entries at £5 taken in the Centre from 6.30pm.A similar course to last year will be used again with the "round the houses" format proving popular with both runners and spectators.The finish may indeed be switched to maximise spectator input!

There will also be a supporting Childrens Fun Run of around 1K.This will have a £2 entry fee and each finisher will get a medal and a goody bag.Entries as per the 5K run.

Big Local Road Races

Mention of the big two upcoming local road races,Dessies Run on Sunday 29th August and the Tesco Waterside Half Marathon on Sunday 12th September.Both these classics will be staged out of the Gransha Grounds and both have 12 noon start times. Top local road runner Greg Roberts,runner up to Joe McAllister last year has confirmed his Dessies Run entry and interest is steadily building for what is expected to attract around 500 participants to Gransha on the last Sunday in August. Many will of course use Dessies Run as vital preparation for the Waterside which follows two weeks later and 2010 Womens winner Pauline Curley of Tullamore Harriers,has already signalled her intention to defend her title.

Also on Thursday the 19th August is the Buncrana Mile at 7.30 from the Buncrana Leisure Centre. Series of 1 mile races U16, Open and Vets Male and Female.
