Carlin and Rodriguez win
Jog in the Bog
City of Derrys Kevin Carlin led home an 80
plus field at wednedsay nights Jog in the Bog 5K,clocking
an impressive 16m 14s for a 20s victory margin over English
visitor,Clayton Payne with Inishowen AC,s Declan Caldwell
third on 17m 08s.The Spartan and the visiting Triathlete who
has a 15m 01s PB for the distance,battled away upfront from
the gun and the red vest showed real bottle to outlast his
opponent and stride home to a welcome win which should boost
his confidence after an indifferent few months.
Joanna Rodriquez,who accompanied Payne to
the North West for a wedding in Strabane,was an equally impressive
womens race winner.Her 18m 44s clocking saw her home comfortably
clear of teenage Spartan Amy McDaid with Elizabeth McDaid
of Inishowen AC third.Foyle Valley pair Sandra Mc Keever and
Kate Meehan took the F35 and F45 age group prizes while local
girl Jodie Doherty was the top Female U20.
Ryan Snodgrass and Paddy Nicell of Foyle Valley claimed the
M35 and M45 awards with their clubmate Eamon Baker the leading
M55. City of Derry duo Andy Breslin and Peter Lilburn,won
the M40 and M50 age groups and their much younger teammate
Sean Harkin was an emphatic Boys U20 winner.
The event as usual was organised by the Bosside.Brandywell
Health Forum in association with City of Derry Spartans and
the Awards were presented by the Mayor,Cllr Colm Eastwood.
