Harty win opening race of Furey Insurances Series 2009
130 runners
took part in tonights opening race of the 2009 Furey Insurances
5K Series. Greg Roberts led a Spartan clean sweep in the mens
race and in doing so became the first NI 5k Road race champion
in a number of years. Newcastle AC's Kerry Harty set a series
record when winning in an outstanding time of 16.11 which placed
her 4th overall in the race. The race on the Bay road circuit
was kindly sponsored by UU Magee and was also the 3rd race in
the University of Ulster Series. Results here.

The first race in the Furey Insurances 5K Series
2009 starts with N.I. Championship Status. This race is sponsored
by UU Magee and is also the final race of the University Series.
Online entries available for this race here
but as usual entries will be taken on the night at no extra
cost. Registration and prize giving will take place at the Sports
Pavilion on Duncreggan Road. The race will start at Sainsburys
on the Strand Road and will will have approx 800 of a run in
to pick up the old bay road loop. 3 full circuits of 1400m lap
will complete the race. Championchip timing will be used for
this race (hence the price increase) but all competitors will
recieve a goodie bay and UU series long sleeve t-shirt. A primary
school and u15 race will take place before the main event. Details
