June 08Furey Insurances 5K Series
- Age graded results after 4 races
City of Derry's top statistician
Declan McCarty has completed an initial analysis of the results
so far and some interesting results are appearing at this early
stage.
With 4 races completed it looks
like the leader in the male vets category is City's Christy
McMonagle. However, Springwells Gerry O Doherty has only completed
3 races so far and is hot on the heels of Christy. All this
could change as the series progresses with the best 5 results
out of the 7 races being counted for the overall series winners.
An interesting statistic with
the veteran men is that so far the times recorded have given
us 5 performances under the magic 15 minute barrier with the
fastest so far being an excellent 14.39 by club secretary Gerry
Lynch on the Ballineska Circuit.
On the female side, with the
first 4 races counting it looks to be between Jackie McMonagle
and Roisin Lynch at this early stage but Bernie Ryan and Margaret
Kelly have completed on 3 races so far so it's all still there
to play for.
The fastest female so far has
been City's Ann Paul who's performances have corresponded to
two runs under the 17 min barrier with the quickest her 16.48
(18.08) again on the Ballineska circuit.
A reminder to everyone of how
the overall series is scored.
7 races with best 5 results
to count. Prizes are as follows:
1st and 2nd in the male/female
open, 1st and 2nd male/female vets(age graded as above) and
1st and 2nd male/female U20. Also to get the series T-shirt
