Why not give her a visit?		10 August 2007 Marty Cox and Cathy McCourt are the overall winners of 2007 Furey Insurance Services 5K Series. Thanks to all who participated. Final Standings 7 August 2007 As you are aware, writes Tony Robinson, the City of Derry A.C. Boys and Girls U.13, 15 and 17 teams have won the N.I., Young Athletes League for the first time ever. This was a tremendous achievement as a result of many months/years of hard work by both athletes and coaches. The Team will now represent Northern Ireland in the U.K. Auxiliary Finals in *Birmingham’s* *Alexander Stadium* on the Saturday 1^st September 2007. We expect to take 70-80 athletes and coaches to the finals. To minimise costs for the Team we have decided to organise a series of Fund Raising events. The first of these will be a “Night at the Races” which will be held in ‘Badgers’ on Friday 17^th August. starting at 8:00p.m. 4 August 2007 JOHN BROOKS NO OPPOSITION John Brooks was the convincing winner of the Muff Festival 5K which was the last in the Furey Insurances Series of races in the Northwest. The Dublin-based Scot crossed the line in 16 minutes 17 seconds with a six seconds advantage over John Lenehan from the host club City of Derry. The pair had fought out an intense duel through the race on the quiet roads around the Border town before Brooks moved away over the last kilometre. Third place place went to another City athlete Emmett McGinty (16:57) while Omagh Harrier Marty Cox (17:05) in fourth did enough to seal overall victory in the Series. Former Sparta star Tommy Farrell made a welcome appearance to claim the prize for first Master after closing in for fifth (17:09). North Belfast Harrier Cathy McCourt (19:49) clinched the women’s overall title with another comfortable win. City’s Olivia McCullagh (20:58) showed a return to form to take second ahead of Foyle Valley’s Bernie Ryan (22:13).
